Deputies to get Forney office
Jul 30, 2008
Kaufman County Sheriff’s deputies are getting an extra office in the county Pct. 2 work barn on FM741, Pct. 2 Commissioner Ray Clark said.
It will not be a substation, but will be a place for deputies to stop in, fill out paperwork and get gas for their cars.
Mr. Clark said he is renting a month modular building for $400 a month that will be on the work barn property. The building can be used as an office for his employees and sheriff’s deputies.
The deputies also can fill up their patrol cars at the barn. Because the departments have separate budgets, the sheriff’s office will pay Pct. 2 for the gas.
“Just think about you have a deputy that’s in Forney and gets a call in Poetry and is nearly out of gas,” Mr. Clark said. “Does he go to Poetry and run out of gas on the way there or on the way back. He can’t go to Kaufman.”
