Yep, it was officially hot

Jul 22, 2008

It was genuinely hot Monday. The official temperature reached 101 late in the afternoon and remained in the 80s at midnight.

This is the second time this summer that the local temperature has reached that high point – much lower than the dozen times 100 degrees has been recorded in other North Texas areas.

And things are expected to get slightly better. Highs are forecast in the mid- to upper 90s throughout the rest of the week. Those could easily climb to 100.

Tropical Storm Dolly, expected to become a hurricane, is heading toward Brownsville, but is not likely to push rain into the area keeping the dry spell intact.

Water departments remind homeowners to go easy with the sprinkler. Water only in the early morning or late evening. And remember that lawns don’t need a daily sprinkle.
