Forney house burns
Jul 16, 2008
Firefighters spent more than three hours Monday afternoon working to put out a house fire in the 17500 block of Valley View in Forney.
There was heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and attic when firefighters arrived at the scene about 4:30 p.m. A family member reported that someone could still be in the house so a quick search began. But there was no one inside and firefighters were pulled from the structure because of the danger of collapse, Forney Fire Chief Rick Townsend said in a statement.
Because of the size of the fire and high temperatures, the Terrell volunteer fire department and units from Heath and Crandall assisted. Kaufman County Emergency Services and the American Red Cross also were on the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s office.
