Improve you health and help others
Jun 13, 2008
Renaissance Hospital of Terrell is reaching out to the community Saturday with a health fair. The fair has several purposes, hospital officials said. It will help residents learn more about their health, aid the Genesis Center in Kaufman and reintroduce the hospital to the community.
“I really don’t believe that a lot of people even know that the facility is still here,” Administrator Sean Astolfo said. “We’re going to have local physicians and vendors. It’s a way to interact with them (residents) and bring the community together.”
The hospital has been through rough times, with several changes of administration for several years. It recently changed hands again and the new management company wants to connect with residents.
The fair at the hospital on Highway 34 between Highway 80 and Interstate 20 runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Included are free blood pressure, cholesterol and blood-sugar screenings. There will be activities for kids and local police and fire fighters will be out to meet residents.
Hamburgers will be $1 and hot dogs 50 cents. Proceeds will go to the Genesis Center in Kaufman which serves women and children.
