“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” opens Friday at KCCT

Friday is opening night at Kaufman County Civic Theatre for Stephen Sondheim’s A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. The madcap musical farce is a fast paced comedy of errors set in ancient Rome.

The cast features Bill Salamon as Pseudolus, Marshall McKinney as Hysterium, Chuck Day as Senex, Mary Duncan as Domina, Greg Duncan as Marcus Lycus, Marty Scott as Miles Gloriosus, Stephen Cox as Hero and Jim Holcomb as Erronius.
In a bit of double casting, Rachael Bower and Catie Colvin will alternate as the virginal and vacuous Philia. Rounding out the ensemble are the versatile Proteans played by Kally Duncan, Bryan Hasley, Nadine Hernandez, Nathan Hodgson, Alex Holcomb and Mandi Smith.
The show is directed and choreographed by Shelley Aubrey with musical accompaniment by Sue Crenshaw. Bonnie Smith is the assistant director.
The production is sponsored in part by First State Bank of Terrell.
Evening performances are 8:00 p.m. Feb. 15, 16, 22, 23 and Feb. 29 and March 1. Matinee performances are at 2:00 p.m. Feb. 17, 24 and March 2.
