TVEC gets new head

Jul 24, 2007

Terry McMullen is passionate about three things – safety, customer service and efficiency.

“We need to be as efficient as we can, but we want good customer service and safety,” Mr. McMullen said.

He took over last week as the CEO of Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative.

Mr. McMullen, 46, has worked for electric cooperatives for 16 years and has degrees in electrical engineering and business administration.

He said he will look at TVEC’s organization to look for efficiencies and assess the delivery system to see were improvements are needed.

And while he’d like new customers, he says the company won’t necessarily be fighting to serve new subdivisions. “We’ve done a lot of that in the past, but may not do that in the future,” he said.

Serving new areas often requires big investments in infrastructure, he said. That only pays off if the homes actually are built and choose TVEC for electric service. The company won’t be going into new areas unless they are sure that can get a return.

TVEC serves most of Kaufman County and several surrounding counties. TXU also serves much of the same area.
