I have some favorite pictures of some favorite people in an old photo album. There’s this photo of Popoo -- that’s what I called my grandfather. He’s caught this “giant” turtle on a trotline. As a young boy it was bigger than anything in Jurassic Park. My Popoo was quite a man to be able to bring home something that big. As a lad, I had the vision of him wrestling this giant turtle in the water with a knife in his mouth and throwing it into the boat. Now it didn’t happen that way, but that’s how big that moment was in my mind. Looking at that photo brings back many memories.
You can study Scripture as a series of pictures or an album of photos that tell a story. The New Testament contains photos of Jesus. When you observe the Lord’s Supper or Communion or Eucharist, He says we are to do that “in remembrance of Me.” That means there are times we should open “The Jesus Album” and recall some of those “giant” times we’ve had with Him. This weekend, why not go to church and celebrate the Resurrection picture of Jesus? That photo was taken “just for you.”
