The Kaufman County YMCA has just wrapped up their first season of Small Fry Soccer.
This program is designed to give kids, ages three and four, an introduction to soccer, organized sports and teamwork.
Forty kids signed up for the fall season, and met on Saturdays for six weeks to learn skills and scrimmage against each other. The first three weeks were spent on skill development, while the last three weeks were for the scrimmage games.
“The kids had a lot of fun," said Andelyn Stokes YMCA Small Fry director “and by the end of the program and you could definately see some skill improvement”.
The 40 kids were separated into 4 teams and assigned to a volunteer coach who worked with them throughout the program.
At the end of the season the kids all received a trophy, YMCA Small Fry T-shirt and a pizza party.
The YMCA is planning a spring season for Small Fry soccer. For more information call 972.524.9622 or go to www.kaufmancountyymca.org
