Combine fire department gets new truck
Thanks to a well-attended fundraiser and a grant, the Combine Fire Department has a new brush truck.

The truck, built by a Lubbock company, was $70,000. A Texas Forestry Grant for $59,000 covered much of the cost. The rest came from those attending the annual fire department dinner and auction and $3 donations through the water bills, Cody Sheppard said.

The new truck is a 2007 Ford 4x4 F-550 cab and chassis. The truck carries 500 gallons of water and 10 gallons of foam. It also has a platform for two firemen to stand on the bed while the truck is moving. “This feature is a great improvement for the fire department as our old brush truck does not have this feature and therefore makes it more dangerous when fighting grass fires,” Mr. Sheppard said.
He said the fire department thanked all those who donated to buy the truck.

The Combine Fire Department would like to thank all of those who attended our dinner and auction last year and those who continue to donate three dollars a month on their water bill.
