Forney picks new superintendent

About midnight Thursday, the Forney school board selected Dr. Darrell Brown with the Katy school district as the lone finalist for superintendent. By law, the district must wait 21 days before signing a contract.

Terrell formally gets new superintendent
Kelly Rodgers
The Terrell school board formally approved Kelly Rodgers as the new superintendent Monday night. Mr. Rodgers is superintendent of the Center school district and was selected in October as the district’s sole finalist.
His will make $160,000 year plus benefits.

New school forming
Parents are invited to an informational meeting about a new private school forming.
The meeting for Kaufman County Faith Academy is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Premier Sports, 207 E. Highway 80, in Forney.
Wendy and Raymond Smith began considering the new school when Terrell Christian Academy closed last year. Ms. Smith was the TCA administrator and had previously directed other private Christian schools.
The Smiths plan to open the school next August.

TVCC Board to interview presidential candidates
TVCC Kaufman Campus
During an executive session Monday, September 24, 2007, the Trinity Valley Community College Board of Trustees narrowed the field of presidential hopefuls. The board, according to TVCC President Ron Baugh, will be interviewing eight candidates during the next two weeks.

Very quietly, school taxes drop
There was a small bright spot on tax bills this year. School taxes dropped. Even with increases in property appraisals, most homeowners saw a decrease in school taxes.
