Awesome environmental camp
What more could a kid want than to play with worms? Or learn about trees and flowers?
The Kaufman County Environmental Co-op is sponsoring an environmental camp from 9:30 a.m. to noon July 18 in Terrell’s Ben Gill Park.
Kids will learn about the part trees play in the environment, recycling, composting and – the favorite – vermicomposting with worms.

Looking for that special father
The Kaufman County YMCA is looking for that really special father to honor as Father of the Year.
You can nominate your special someone at kaufmancountyymca.org. The person must be involved with the YMCA. Nominations are due by May 13 and the father selected will be honored at a family celebration June 10.

Red Cross offers two classes
Be the best possible babysitter after a training class at the American Red Cross. The class is offered from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 19.
And for general preparedness, a standard first aid and CPR training class is being offered from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 1.
Both classes will be at the Red Cross office, 109 Tejas Dr. Suite 700. For more information or to register call 972-563-1030.

Kaufman took top honors in the 2007 Kaufman County Spirit Challenge, but the real winners were the kids who are cared for at the Norville Children’s Shelter of Kaufman County.
