Pct. 2 Town Hall meeting
Commissioner Ray Clark said he wants to hear from the folks in Pct. 2. He’s hosting a town hall meeting Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Forney subcourthouse, 200 E. Main St., Forney.
Pct. 2 assistant Cindy Faulkner and Paul Allen, road and bridge supervisor, also will be available.

Forney helping local 4-year-old
Several Forney groups are working to help four-year-old Hannah Kessner who has a congenital defect that affects her brain and spinal cord. Two fundraisers are scheduled for Saturday, May 31.

Forney police arrest three in Whataburger robbery after high-speed chase
Forney police officers arrested three suspects in the armed robbery of the Whataburger on Highway 80. Officers answering the call at the restaurant spotted the getaway car and chased it at speeds near 100 mph into Dallas, where the three were finally arrested.

Small explosion hits Forney industrial area
Chemical solvents at Apex Industrial Coating set off a small explosion about noon Friday afternoon.
No injuries were reported.
The Forney Police Department revceived several calls concerning the explosion and firefighters, police, the County Fire Marshall and Garland Police Department’s hazardous materials team responded.
Apex is at 11895 on S. Profit Row in an industrial area.
The incident is under investigation.

Expect a phone call
Forney residents can expect a phone call Friday, May 23. The city will be testing its new emergency notification system that allows officials to reach residents by phone in case of an emergency. The county, school districts and other cities have similar systems.

City/developer partnership to bring new Forney retail
A major Forney retail center was announced Monday on Highway 80 near Windmill Farms. Now all the city has to do is build a bridge to get shoppers there. The project is on a fast-track with plans to open stores by the end of 2010.
