Starting the school year with a celebration – and a plan
Seems everybody complains about schools, but Raise Your Hand Texas, a non-partisan grassroots advocacy group, is pointing out education’s successes as well as working to improve it. At a rally Wednesday, Sept. 10, former Lt. Gov. and long-time school reformer Bill Ratliffe will explain the group’s plan.

Summer nutrition program continues in Terrell
Free meals are being provided on weekdays at Terrell schools for children 1 to 18 years old through July 10.
Breakfast is available on a first come, first served basis from 7 to 8 a.m. and lunch is served from 11 a.m. to noon.

The schools are:
  • Long Elementary School, 300 Creekside Drive

  • Burnett Elementary School, 921 S. Rockwall

  • Bruce Wood Intermediate, 121 Poetry Road

  • Terrell High School, 400 Poetry Road. No meals served on Friday
