Heat hits record high, then temperature drops
The temperature reached a record high 106 degrees Sunday, then quickly began falling as winds shifted and strengthened.

The high came between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., but by 10 p.m. the temperature had dropped to 83 and was expected to reach 76 degrees overnight.

Light scattered showers were picked up on radar throughout the county Sunday afternoon, but no measureable rainfall fell at the Terrell airport, the official reporting station.

The high temperature is forecast at 100 degrees Monday, but a tropical storm off the coast of Louisiana could keep it lower.

A hurricane warning has been issued for the Gulf Coast, with landfall in Texas expected Tuesday. The National Weather Service expects Eduoard to reach hurricane strength as it moves through the Gulf.
