Kemp breaks ground for new high school

The Kemp school district broke ground last week for a new high school near the district’s stadium. Voters approved $23 million in bonds last year to build the school and renovate others. The new school is planned for 600 to 650 students.

The Kemp Yellowjacket band spent spring break in Orlando, Fla., visiting Disney World and participating in Disney’s Magic Music Days.
"Our kids work so hard each year, and this is one time where they can sit back, have fun, and do what they love...make music,” said Band Director Kenneth Pointer.
Disney Magic Music Days is a unique educational program designed for students of the arts. It gives instrumental, vocal and dance ensembles an opportunity to showcase their talents in a professional setting and study their craft in a positive, lively environment all with the side benefit of a little added entertainment.
Students held many fundraisers to pay for the trip and thanked the Booster Club and community.
"This year's trip to Disney World was very exciting for many students that have never had the opportunity to travel to such a location" Mr. Pointer said.
