Forney police warn of phone scam
The phone calls are scary – a family member has been injured or killed on U.S. Highway 80. The family is told to call a number and then punch in 72.
Forney police warn this is a phone scam. The phone numbers are going into a system that allows the users to retrieve the records and use the numbers to make long distance and collect calls.
Police say don’t call the number. In the case of such a message, officers would contact family members in person.

Forney police looking for suspect in stabbing
Police are looking for a suspect in the Monday night stabbing of a 25-year-old man at the Super 8 Motel.
The man was not seriously injured. He was taken to Presbyterian Hosptial of Kaufman for treatment then returned to the Forney city jail for a parole violation.
A woman with the two men was arrested for drug possession.
When police arrived at the motel about 8 p.m. Monday night they learned that the stabbing victim had run into some woods. The found him and sent him to the hospital for treatment.
Police have little information on the suspect and the investigation is continuing.

Forney police arrest three in Whataburger robbery after high-speed chase
Forney police officers arrested three suspects in the armed robbery of the Whataburger on Highway 80. Officers answering the call at the restaurant spotted the getaway car and chased it at speeds near 100 mph into Dallas, where the three were finally arrested.

Small explosion hits Forney industrial area
Chemical solvents at Apex Industrial Coating set off a small explosion about noon Friday afternoon.
No injuries were reported.
The Forney Police Department revceived several calls concerning the explosion and firefighters, police, the County Fire Marshall and Garland Police Department’s hazardous materials team responded.
Apex is at 11895 on S. Profit Row in an industrial area.
The incident is under investigation.
