Scurry-Rosser superintendent leaving
 |
| The sign in the Scurry-Rosser district honors Superitendent Micheal French |
Scurry-Rosser Superintendent Micheal French likely will be leaving the district for the Quinlan schools.
Mr. French was named the lone finalist for the Quinlan job last week. Under Texas law, Quinlan must wait 21 days before formally appointing Mr. French. Quinlan officials hope he can start with the district July 1.
He will replace, Larry Johnson, who is retiring.
The Quinlan district in nearby Hunt County has almost three times as many students – 2,600 – as Scurry-Rosser with 900. However, the districts’ have similar percentages of Hispanic, white and black students. In both districts, 55 percent are considered economically disadvantages, according to the Texas Education Agency.
The move should also include a hefty pay raise. The Scurry-Rosser superintendent’s salary is $102,500 compared to Quilan’s $150,000
