Two more arrested in joint narcotics investigation
A joint narcotics investigation by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Seagoville police department netted two more arrests this week. Six adults and a juvenile were arrested earlier this month for selling ecstasy tablets.

A natural education
Work on a nature education center is scheduled to begin this week. The center, to be built on Highway 34 in Kaufman, will include a demonstration garden, bog, rain garden, trails and pavilion.

Ah, a sigh of relief
Elected officials got good news Thursday – the county’s property appraisals are up. They had been worrying about meeting rising costs without tax increases. Though the property value jump was a little smaller than last year’s, it probably will be enough to avoid tax increases.

Things really aren’t that bad in Kaufman County. There are home foreclosures, but they are not as serious as some areas. Sales tax revenue is still up a little bit from last year and the unemployment rate is holding steady.
