It can be awkward to talk to teens about sex and the issues that go with it.
The Forney school district want to help parents with the Aim for Success program. Parents are invited to attend a meeting outlining the program from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15 at the Performing Arts Center at Forney High School.
The program will help parents learn creative ways to talk to their children about sex and encourage them to avoid sexual activity until marriage.
If parents consent, 7th graders will get similar information during PE and athletics classes on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The program will be presented for ninth graders during health classes on Thursday, Sept. 18.
The Aim for Success program addresses the problems of teen pregnancies, rising number of sexually transmitted diseases and the traumatic, emotional pain that is often associated with teen sexual activity. District officials say the program will clearly demonstrate that avoiding sexual activity until marriage provides freedom from pregnancies, STDs and regret while giving them the freedom to fulfill their dreams and goals.
Aim For Success motivational programs have educated more than a million young people across America during the past 15 years on topics such as sex, drugs and alcohol.
