CASA is looking for volunteers to help children.
The volunteers, Court Appointed Special Advocates, do not serve as a child’s legal representative nor as a foster parent. CASA volunteers keep up with a child removed from home because of a parents’ problems.
This can be keeping up with grades, making sure the child sees the lawyer or just being there in court for support, among other things.
The number of children who need CASA is growing in Kaufman and Rockwall counties, as is the need for volunteers.
An orientation is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 and the Kaufman County Library, 3790 S. Houston St. in Kaufman or 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Lone Star CASA Office, 950 Williams St., Building C, Rockwall.
