For the fifth time, troops from the Texas Army National Guard headquartered in Terrell will be leaving for Iraq.

About 144 troops from around the state who are part of Company F, 949th Brigade Support Battalion, 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team will heading out.

While they are anchored in Terrell, they are all our troops and residents from around the county are encouraged to turn out.

The Terrell Chamber of Commerce is hosting a grand sendoff beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ben Gill Park on Highway 80.

State, county and city officials will speak and there will be patriotic music.

Eddie Deen Barbecue will provide a meal for the troops and their families. The public is invited to buy tickets for $10 and eat with the troops.

In the afternoon, the pool at the park will be open with activities for children.

Come out again at 8:30 a.m. Monday and line the streets from the park to Ninth St. and then Highway 80 as the troops leave. Bring your flags and wave.
