Fourth of July activities actually start today.

Forney will host it’s annual Independence Day fireworks beginning about 9:15 p.m. Thursday, July 3, near the Villages of Fox Hollow, south of Highway 80 and FM 548. Park at Forney High School or the rear parking lot at First Baptist Church.

Start the Fourth with a parade.

Rosser holds its annual parade beginning at 10 a.m. in downtown, CR4087 (Main Street). It will be followed by lawn mower races and lawn mower pulls. The volunteer fire department will provide the barbecue as a fundraiser.

The Kaufman parade also begins at 10 a.m., moving from the high school through the town square. So far, 25 entries have signed up, but more are expected. Want to enter a float? Just show up Friday morning.

The American Legion will host a fish fry after the parade.

And Terrell hosts the county’s biggest celebration at Ben Gill Park on Highway 80.

Children’s games, informational booths and food booths manned by the band parents organization will be available from 5 to 9 p.m.

The fun event is the children’s tricycle parade. Kids decorate their trikes and bikes and then parade at 7 p.m. near the south entrance to the park. It is open to all children with categories for five and under, six to nine and ten to twelve. New bicycles will be awarded to first place winners. There is a $2 entry fee.

At 8 p.m., the North East Texas Symphony Orchestra will present an Independence Day concert followed at about 9:15 p.m. by fireworks.

Have fun!
