For the first time, all Forney bands received first division ratings at a recent UIL competition.

The Forney High School varsity and non-varsity bands received the highest possible marks -- straight ones from the six University Interscholastic League judges -- at the Region 3 concert and sight-reading contest April 14.

Both bands received sweepstakes awards, based on their first division ratings in marching, stage and sight reading.

This is the first time that the FHS non-varsity band has received the award.

High school band directors are Mark Poole, Mack Wood and Mario Luna.

The middle school bands under the direction of Justin Wood and and Michelle Ross also received first division ratings. The varsity band received straight one ratings on stage and sight reading. The non-varsity band was awarded a first division on state.
