Bernice Dian Cheely was born in Wills Point, TX on Sept. 17, 1934 to Thomas and Elada Smith Scott. Dian passed away in a Tyler hospital on April 11, 2008.
Dian moved to Kaufman where she was raised and was a cheerleader at Kaufman High School. She married Billy Jack Knowles in 1951.
Dian was a dog groomer for 16 years in Kaufman. She also owned and operated “The Store” in Kemp for 10 years, and then retired in 1996. Dian was a member of the Warsaw Full Gospel Baptist Church.
On August 20, 1966 Dian married Jack Cheely in Durant, Oklahoma. Jack preceded Dian in death on March 17, 2002.
Dian is survived by her daughter: Donna Rough of Kaufman, sons: Tommy Jack Knowles and his wife Sandra of Kaufman and Rodney Knowles and his wife Rhonda of Glenn Heights, grandchildren: Michael, Kevin, Brad, Justin, Jason and Jeremy, great-grandchildren: Daniel, Tanner, Hunter, Meagan and Kody and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home with interment following in Kaufman Cemetery. Family visitation was Monday, April 14, 2008 at the funeral home from 6 PM to 8PM.
