After a two-hour executive session Monday night, Glendon Forgey was named the new Trinity Valley Community College president by the college’s board of trustees.

He will replace Ron Baugh who is retiring in February. Dr. Forgey is expected to start at TVCC before Mr. Baugh leaves.

Trinity's main campus is in Athens, but there are campuses in Terrell and at Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman.

Dr. Forgey currently is president for administrative services and chief financial officer for Tallahassee Community College, a position he has held since 2004.

TVCC Board President Ray Raymond said it was Dr. Forgey’s well-rounded resume that made him the ideal candidate for the position.

“We feel he is the right person to direct us into the future as (Baugh) has directed us in the past,” Mr. Raymond said in a statement. “We feel he will do a great job for this college.”

In Florida , Dr. Forgey has been a part of a five-person vice presidential board. The way Tallahassee Community College is structured calls for all five vice presidents to make many major decisions about the institution together.

“After visiting with (Dr. Forgey’s) college president, we were very impressed with what he had to say about (Dr. Forgey’s) performance,” Mr. Raymond said. “We think he will be a great asset to us.”

Before moving to Florida, Dr. Forgey was the assistant vice president for administration/business manager for The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Dr. Forgey serves on the board for the Tallahassee Community College Foundation, the Florida Community College Software Consortium, and the Big Bend Literacy Council.

He holds a doctorate from The University of Oklahoma, a master’s of business administration from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a bachelor’s degree from University of Central Oklahoma.

He has been married to Judy Forgey for 24 years. The couple has two children: Seth, 22 and Jenna, 20.

The board began the search for a new president early this year, when Mr. Baugh announced he would be retiring. In late summer, the board narrowed the field of 36 qualified applicants down to eight before conducting interviews.

“We all know what a great college we have and what a great job Ron has done,” Mr. Raymond said. “The entire board hates to see (Mr. Baugh) leave after he has served the college so well for 21 years. I don’t think we can ever find anyone to fill his shoes.”
