Kaufman County Civic Theatre kicked off a new season September 28 with Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs”. The coming-of-age comedy is based on Simon’s memories of growing up in the Brighton Beach neighborhood of Brooklyn. KCCT gives the play a “PG-13” rating due to some mild adult language and subject matter which might not be suitable for younger audiences.
The playwright’s alter ego, Eugene Morris Jerome, is played by Marshall McKinney. Other members of the Jerome family are played by Abel Flores, Emily Hunt, Rachael Bower, Kay Hinds, Lonny Schonfeld and Rachel Kucera. The Director is Marty Scott. Evening performances of “Brighton Beach Memoirs” will be presented at 8:00 p.m. September 28 & 29 and October 5, 6, 12 & 13. Matinee performances are at 2:00 p.m. September 30 and October 7 & 14.
The theatre is located at 115 North Adelaide in Terrell. For reservations, call 972-563-8991 and leave a message or email kcctinfo@yahoo.com. For more information, visit the theatre website at www.kcct.org.
