Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman (PHK) was honored recently as “Corporate Citizen of the Year” by the Kaufman Chamber of Commerce. The chamber bestows the award annually to a business or business owner who best exemplifies the spirit of giving in the Kaufman community.
Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman, a mainstay in the Kaufman community since 1979, is committed to living its mission of improving the health of the people in the community it serves. Employees and physicians on the hospital's medical staff embody that mission both personally and professionally by generously giving of their time, money and energy to bettering the lives of Kaufman-area residents.
“We are honored that the chamber of commerce chose to recognize Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman in this way,” said PHK President Patsy Youngs. “Employees are the life blood of this hospital. I am so proud of each and every individual who works here, who has chosen to make a career out of putting others first.”
In 2006, hospital employees and medical staff physicians raised over $19,000 for the United Way. The hospital also hosts an annual food drive benefiting local food pantries in which employees purchase items for families in need through Adopt-a-Caseworker program, St. Luke's Health Clinic and the Rainbow Room.
PHK is an active participant in over 20 community organizations. Community health fairs, support groups and community education are just a few of the hospital sponsored activities.
